Resettlement Supervisor - Lower Hudson Valley

Location: Yonkers, New York

Classification: Mid-level Manager

Department: Immigrant and Refugee Services Division

Program: Refugee Resettlement

Reports to: Director of Refugee Resettlement

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes

Summary: The Resettlement Supervisor will oversee the expansion of refugee services to Westchester and surrounding Lower Hudson Valley Counties, and develop the community-co-sponsorship model, build and strengthen community and governmental relations with respect to services for refugees; and, work with parishes, faith communities, social action committees, school groups, and others to provide direct services to newly arrived refugees. He or she will be keenly familiar with local resources, and aware of the challenges of resettling refugees. With support from the Director of Refugee Resettlement, he or she will manage contract compliance and oversee the use of volunteers and interns to implement the required program components of Reception & Placement, Match Grant and state-funded case management programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

General/Program management

  • Provide management and oversight of services and activities, specifically the design and implementation of the community co-sponsorship model in order to carry out the resettlement of an estimated 51 refugees in the first year.

  • Directly manage case management, and employment preparation services, and ensure that all service needs of arriving refugees are met. These include accessing affordable housing, educational services, cultural orientation, medical and mental health services.

  • Supervise one staff person and manage the work of community volunteers – maintaining full compliance with volunteer policies and procedures.

  • Communicate with BRIA, USCCB and other funders on program and contractual matters.

  • Ensure compliance with contract and funder requirements – including conducting internal case reviews.

  • Oversee timely and accurate submission of program reports and internal reports

Financial management/fundraising

  • Manage and track contract budgets.

  • Provide oversight of the monthly expenditures including tracking direct assistance provided to clients, cash and in-kind.

  • Assist in developing program grants/contracts and budgets.

Community & Public Relations:

  • Serve as a community liaison to local governmental bodies, parishes, community groups and others in order to educate the community and engage their assistance in serving refugees.

  • Represent CCCS to community stakeholders, at media events, or funder meetings.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days of work are generally Monday - Friday. Additional hours may be required to meet program deadlines, or client needs.

Working conditions and physical demands required:

The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area (home visits, agency visits, service provider visits etc) at least 50% of the time using reliable transportation, traversing streets, ascending/descending stairs, and exposed to outside weather conditions.

  • Remain in a stationary position at a work station and use a computer approximately 40% of the time.

  • Frequently sit for long periods attending meetings.


Education and/or experience required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, in social work or a similar field of study. Comparable years of related professional work may be substituted.

  • Minimum of three (3+) years’ relevant work experience in human services field (in addition to above).

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ supervisory experience

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

  • Bilingual, English and one of the predominant languages of the local client base (include, but not limited to: Spanish, Arabic, and French).

  • Valid and clean tri-state driver’s license with reliable vehicle and current insurance. Must pass Agency Vehicle Usage & Safety Policy requirement.

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a multi-cultural environment.

  • Self- starter with excellent problem solving skills combined with the ability to multi-task, prioritize duties and manage time effectively. Strong attention to detail.

  • Strong presentation, communication and advocacy skills.

  • Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook. Experience using online case management database systems to track case notes and client progress a plus.
