The Financial Analyst serves as a liaison to all customers by researching and answering financial questions in a timely manner. Under general direction will assist in the preparation, review and distribution of accurate financial statements.

  • Creates and provides decision support data, tools and reports for operational and strategic decisions for Wichita Market and Division

  • Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data and tends

  • Investigates, reports and oversees correction of irregularities that are found in preparation of financial analysis

  • Gathers and calculates data required for capital project proformas in collaboration with facility, market and division leadership

  • Creates regular and ad hoc financial analysis and reporting for Market, as required

  • Provide assistance and support to Chief Financial Officer on non-operational accounting items for the Market

  • Collaborates with market and facility leadership to interpret financial information to improve department performance

  • Assists in development of and performs detailed review of operations budget - particularly volume, revenue, and statistics

  • Prepares weekly financial projections for Wesley and Wesley Woodlawn. Creates tools necessary to perform qualitative analysis at month end

  • Review monthly statistics. Supervise proper recording of unit and departmental statistics

  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports to Senior Management

  • Assists with special projects and analysis as requested by Market CFO. Represent the CFO at meetings and on committees when requested

  • Model managed care contract payment terms. Analyze effect of contract changes

  • Prepare survey information regulatory, licensing, and payer agencies

  • Maintain strictest confidentiality to ensure that privileged information is adequately safeguarded against disclosure

  • Protects operations by safeguarding patient and financial confidential information

  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification

  • CPA

Required Education or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field

  • Previous accounting experience

Preferred Education or Experience

  • MBA

  • 5 years of previous hospital accounting experience

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong computer skills and technical capabilities, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Business Objects, Essbase, etc. Elevated Microsoft Excel skills required (Macros/Formulas/Pivots/etc)

  • Strong analytical, reconciling, and problem solving skills. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports and projections

  • Ability to communicate clearly with multiple levels of organization

  • Excellent math skills and strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and self-review, manage deadlines and multiple priorities

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems, platforms, and software packages

  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Healthcare experience
