Join The Washington Post’s world-class Human Resources department as our Employee Relations and Retention Specialist and be the vibrant, informative and consultative voice of HR to our departments and employees. You’ll cultivate positive relationships; promote a positive organizational culture; help launch special HR programs and initiatives; and craft HR-related messages for new topics, issues and initiatives ranging from employee surveys to reward programs. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and communicate positive employee relations strategies and retention initiatives that foster and promote a positive organizational culture
  • Oversee and conduct exit interviews and provide actionable insight from the data gathered
  • Coach Managers on how to have important and difficult conversations with employees
  • Partner with change leadership teams to leverage communications as part of the change management process
  • Assess our organizational climate through employee surveys and focus groups
  • Analyze information and identify workplace improvement needs
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of employee relations programs through the use of metrics
  • Improve our recognition programs based on current business needs
  • Manage employee relation situations requiring investigations and/or disciplinary action
  • Manage and approve probationary reviews
  • Coordinate Springfield plant quarterly tours

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, HR or a related field (Master’s degree desired)
  • Demonstrated written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to articulate and champion the key business drivers and ROI of employee engagement
  • Experience with program design and implementation
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic human resources modeling, leadership techniques and resource coordination
