Assists with patient care and transport duties under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
PERFORMS BASIC PATIENT CARE FUNCTIONS AS PERMITTED BY DEPARTMENTAL POLICY.
*Assists with inter- and intra-departmental patient transportation and with patient loading and unloading at department entrances in a timely and professional manner.
*Assists others in providing patient care in a professional manner.
*Performs patient care skills (i.e., connects patients to cardiac monitor, oximeter and automatic blood pressure monitoring, EKG testing, etc.) in accordance with skills certification, departmental policies and procedures.
*Provides adequate documentation on patient encounters, and notifies team leader and/or nurse-in-charge immediately of any change in patients' condition.
ENSURES THAT PATIENT CARE AREA IS MAINTAINED IN A CONSTANT STATE OF MEDICAL READINESS.
*Completes daily check of assigned patient care area 100% of time.
* Maintains equipment properly and distributes to appropriate areas to include stocking of supplies to patient rooms, cart rooms, trauma rooms, back board rooms and nurse's stations.
* Ensures excess material is put in appropriate stock location prior to the end of the shift.
*Ensures linen change of gurney and removal of soilage, dirt and trash after each patient.
*Notifies the appropriate personnel immediately of any supplies and equipment required for patient care.
*Removes used but reusable pre-hospital equipment from patient care area, and stores equipment in proper location in a timely manner.
*Performs required equipment checks regularly, and documents findings appropriately.
COLLABORATES WITH THE STAFF TO OPTIMIZE THE FLOW OF PERTINENT PATIENT INFORMATION.
*Monitors appearance and comfort levels of patients in the waiting area.
*Communicates changes in status to the nurse.
*Keeps patients and family members informed of delays.
*Promotes positive customer relations for patients, families, visitors and staff.
*Collaborates with all staff members to achieve patient satisfaction.
EVALUATES AND PROVIDES FOR THE NEEDS OF EACH CUSTOMER TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF CARE AND COMFORT.
*Offers patients and family members appropriate comfort measures.
*Contacts Environmental Services to maintain a clean, obstruction-free lobby area and sanitary restrooms.
PERFORMS OTHER POSITION APPROPRIATE DUTIES AS REQUIRED IN A COMPETENT, PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS MANNER.
