Location: Monticello, NY
FLSA Status: Full Time, Exempt
Department: CCCS of Orange County / The Recovery Center Office: Outpatient - Monticello
Reports to: Director of Outpatient Clinic
Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Summary: The DATA Counselor will provide diagnostic evaluation services and ongoing individual, family and/or group counseling to teens and/or their family members who have been affected by substance abuse.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Evaluate clients’ appropriateness for DATA programs and review with supervisor and multi-disciplinary team at case conference.
Engage family in treatment as well as have all consents signed by either parent and/or guardian.
Engage the entire family in the treatment process.
Contact referring person with feedback on admission to clinic or need for alternate services.
Refer clients to other modalities of treatment, as appropriate.
Encourage active AA/NA and Al-Anon participation, as appropriate to diagnosis, and assist clients with obtaining interim sponsors.
Document contacts and information pertinent to client’s status and progress.
Conduct treatment planning and updates on a regular basis, as well as monitoring progress in achieving objectives.
Provide individual and group counseling.
Provide educational lectures and didactic/interactive groups.
Document the provision of services as per agency policy and OASAS requirements.
Interrelate with Program Coordinator, Billing Staff, Client Advocate, Counselors, Clients, Family Members, and Referents.
Work collaboratively with Outpatient Services Staff.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position.

Education and/or experience required:
HS Diploma or equivalent with two (2) years’ minimum experience in alcoholism treatment.
If degreed in a clinical area, must have at least one (1) year experience with alcohol dependent clients.
Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:
CASAC or CASAC-T
DATA Counselor will maintain full compliance with Federal confidentiality regulations governing substance abuse records as outlined in 42 CFR Part and with the Standards for Privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information (45 CFR Parts 160 and 164).
