Senior Category Manager**is responsible for building strong relationship with their business partners, driving the successful enterprise-wide sourcing and category management execution and delivery of related spend categories, and delivering the best value to the corporation while building and sustaining mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers. Expectations include:

  • Provide subject matter expertise and strategic guidance within the vendor sourcing and purchasing areas

  • Develop and instill appropriate sourcing and purchasing process and procedures

  • Ensure compliance with the overall program

  • Influence and support business owners and other groups across the Bank

  • Lead cross-functional teams in support of the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement programs

This position requires a great deal of Financial Institution knowledge to include current regulatory environment, FFIEC and OCC regulations, and the vendor communities that serve large Financial Institution to include the provision of Transaction Banking.

Major responsibilities:

  • 50% Sourcing Execution– Design, implementation and execution of Business Unit and Bank-wide Strategic Sourcing and Procurement for the categories outline above ranging from $50 to $200 million in annual spend.

o Strategic sourcing and execution of assigned category related spend across Business Units and the Bank

o Collaborate with business partners while leading the development and delivery of spend category strategies

o Provide full and accurate category “market intelligence” by leading and performing in-depth analysis, understanding market drivers, cost structures and advantages on a category level

o Responsible for pipeline (value, savings) delivery; in addition to measuring and tracking performance relating to spend and budgetary impact.

  • 30% Strategic Sourcing– Bi-directional integration with UB Business Owners.

o Effectively influence stakeholders and business owners, facilitating the Strategic Sourcing process and compliance with Bank policy and practices

o Ensure Strategic Sourcing efforts support business objectives and direction

o Establish key internal and external relationships enabling multi-year planning and category strategies, supporting sustainable spend management

o Lead cross-functional teams in the execution of sourcing initiatives end-to-end.

  • 20% Staff– Lead, define and develop the capabilities of the individuals assigned as direct reports.

o Responsible for directly supervising staff, including interviewing, hiring staff and the termination of staff

o Recommend salary changes, job promotions

o Set work hours, conduct counseling /performance reviews, and plan the staff's workload

o Responsible for ensuring staff comply with all wage and hour regulations.

This position requires specialized knowledge and experience in work involving advising business line management how best to leverage supplier sourcing to minimize cost, with overall continuous improvement.

•Requires minimum of 2 years leading Strategic Sourcing groups

•4 years of strategic sourcing and supplier relations experience in assigned category specialty

•Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Finance or equivalent business experience; MBA preferred*

•Experience in designing, deploying or managing E-Sourcing tools and technology preferred

•Ability to drive performance improvement across a team; strong teamwork and collaboration skills

•Strong coaching and management skills

•Excellent Professional Services, Digital, eCommerce, Investment Banking and Markets category management skills

•Excellent Analytical skills, continuous improvement mind-set

•Excellent technical Source-to-Pay, negotiations and project management skills

•Excellent business / financial acumen; understands cost structures and drivers
