- Job Summary:
Under general direction with a high level of autonomy, uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience, to manage litigation and regulatory matters involving the organization and its subsidiaries. May lead major projects, programs or processes with significant business impact involving cross-functional teams. Influences strategic direction, develops tactical plans and completes complex assignments with substantial latitude for unreviewed actions or decisions. Provides comprehensive solutions to complex problems or needs. End results are evaluated for achieving goals and objectives. Extensive contact with internal customers, senior management and outside counsel is required to identify, research, analyze and resolve complex legal issues with significant impact.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities: *
Performs human resource management activities, including identifying performance problems and approving recommendations for remedial action; evaluating performance; and interviewing of legal department staff.
Plans, assigns, monitors, reviews, evaluates the work of legal department staff.
Coaches and mentors others, including providing guidance and direction to legal department staff and developing a regular program of continuing education and career development opportunities.
Interprets, applies and recommends changes to organizational policies and procedures.
Reviews progress of assignments with senior and executive management.
Balances conflicting resource and priority demands.
Provides advice, counsel and recommendations to senior and executive management on complex business issues.
Prepares and delivers written and oral presentations to senior and executive management on legal issues.
Maintains expertise in corporate and securities regulatory law.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Advanced investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the financial securities industry.

Managing a heavy volume of complex corporate legal functions.
Preparing and delivering written and oral presentations to all associates including senior and executive management on legal issues.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
Juris Doctorate with excellent academic credentials and a minimum ten (10) years of progressive corporate and/or securities legal experience.
Experience in all levels of the judicial court system; or handling inquires and investigation from authorities governing Self Regulating Organization (SRO) entities.
- Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
- Either current membership in the Florida Bar, admission within twelve (12) months of hire or certifies as Florida authorized house counsel.
