Manage, document, and support leave of absence activities related to assigned functional area. Provides analysis of current leave of absence process and assists in the development and design of procedures that will achieve optimal efficiency for employees and supervisors. Provides information, interpretation, guidance and consultation on complex issues that may arise as a result of a leave of absence associated with Short Term Disability, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), leave as an accommodation under the Americans’ with Disabilities Act (ADA), Personal Leave of Absence, or Workers’ Compensation. Extracts, organizes, verifies and translates needs of customer and interprets into business practices, policies and processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a subject matter expert on end to end leave of absence processes
Provide ongoing support to National Operations Center and Logistics Operations Center supervisors as it relates to managing employee leave of absence situations
Ensure that employee leave status is reflected accurately in Quest systems throughout the life of a leave
Provide support to supervisors and managers in evaluating applicable protocols when employees do not adhere to local call out procedures
Utilize expertise in leave processes to evaluate supervisor and manager requests for job replacement or termination options
Partner with FMLA administration vendor, supervisors/managers, Total Rewards Center of Excellence (COE), and Employee Relations COE (and occasionally Legal) to evaluate and research cases of suspected misuse of leave
Responsible for ADA process and outcomes in association with Leave of Absences
Work with supervisors and managers to coordinate (early) return to work from leave of absence
Track and follow up on return to work with restrictions and limitations to assess progress
Track and analyze incidents related to worker’s compensation
Facilitate communication between employees, management, and other HR functions as appropriate
Maintain current knowledge of policies, guidelines and employment laws across all regions and functions
Maintain knowledge of current industry leave of absence trends in the marketplace
Works collaboratively COE, HR Business Partners (HRBP) and/or other HR functional areas to resolve more complex complaints or issues.
Maintain thorough and confidential centralized employee files and disciplinary/investigation files
Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information, protects the assets of the Company, reports non-compliance and adheres to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, and company policies and procedures
Drive people processes to ensure those employees’ capabilities meet current and future standards
Develop and promote feedback mechanisms for employees to influence continuous improvement of HR services and processes
Participate in or lead functional and cross-functional process improvement initiatives and projects to drive the achievement of business results within the HRSC and/or client groups, with a focus on continuous process improvement
Work closely with HR Service Center Manager and COE to ensure rollout and consistent application of functional changes impacting the service center, or on issues that relate to or require involvement of the service center team
Provide callers with excellent, efficient and courteous service

Qualifications: Education Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required Work Experience:
5+ year’s human resources employee relations , leave administration and work accommodations
Extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations,
Demonstrate successful handling of complex leave of absence cases.
Demonstrated ability to lead functional and cross-functional process improvement initiatives with a proven track record for positive business results Physical and Mental Requirements:

Ability to read, write and speak the English language, communicating clearly and effectively with callers
Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking and writing skills a plus
