Responsible for assisting with the supervision of programming in the Early Head Start (EHS) for Infants and Toddlers at Salina Infant Center, Cab Horse Commons, Atonement Child Care Center and Family Child Care sites. Serve as a resource and support in Developmentally Appropriate Practices for teachers in their class room instruction. Provide instruction and supports for teachers in developing nurturing and positive relationships with children and families.


  • Will assume primary responsibility for: assisting the EHS-CCPEP Director in the overall administration of the EHS program and ensuring that all children and families served receive the support and services needed.

  • Assist Early Head Start Center Manager with oversight of child development with staff in compliance with Early Head start standards (*).

  • Develop schedule for classroom monitoring of staff compliance with Early Head Start standards. Schedule will need to show follow up procedure tool to ensure that the needs of the children are being met and staff are in compliance (*).

  • Ensure all staff and partner entities remain in compliance with EHS requirements for child development and assessments.

  • Assure that all staff is trained on child development and assessment tools, child tracking information is complete, parent teacher conferences and home visits are occurring, and that files are in alignment with paperwork completion deadlines.

  • Monitor and facilitate consistent contact with parents (guardians) to ensure appropriate programming for children and communication with the program staff.

  • Assist with maintenance of physical site to ensure safety, cleanliness, adequate supplies and equipment in compliance with licensing standards and agency expectations.

  • Attend all required trainings/conferences for implementation and monitoring of EHS curriculum, program practices, standards, guidelines and required processes.

  • Assist with administrative and clerical tasks as assigned.

  • Represent The Salvation Army within the Day Care Community and the community at large to educate, advocate, and lobby regarding child care issues, policies and needs.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development, Education or related field.

  • Master’s degree and NYS teaching certificate preferred.

  • At least 2 years experience previous teaching and supervisory experience necessary.

  • Valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.

  • Must have access to own vehicle.
