Full Time Co-op: 2 openings, May - Dec 2017
Key responsibilities of the Student Engineer will include but are not limited to the following:
Assist engineers and technical specialists in design and project management activities to complete plans, designs, cost estimates, change management activities and construction management related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of fossil fuel facilities with emphasis on safety, reliability, cost effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Perform design work, field verification, assist in the planning and coordination of recommended changes, possibly including start-up of new equipment.
Ensure project documentation (drawings, design notes, quotes, etc) are correctly stored into the electronic database on a timely basis.
Assist with the identification and removal of obsolete drawings currently stored in the electronic database.
Interact with Engineering, Generation, Construction Supervision and Environmental groups as well as other internal & external customers.
Assist with job site safety
Participate in special projects or tasks, including emergencies, as required.
Work locations will be both in an office environment and in a Power Plant environment / construction site. Construction site visits/inspections involving outside activities will be required and at times could be physically demanding. Typical working hours would be 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Plant locations will be in Festus or Labadie, MO depending on the project you are supporting.
Education: Must be an undergraduate of Junior or Senior student status in Mechanical, Civil or Industrial Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Will consider students in a graduate engineering program as well. Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher is required.
Experience: None required, but experience with general mechanical / civil work would be a plus.
Other: Good analytical, communication, and human relations skills. Experience with personal computer programming and operation is desirable, as well as the ability to read and understand drawings.
