The Director of Medical Staff Services administers the medical staff credentialing and reappointment process, and assists the medical staff in supporting the organization’s mission, vision, and goals. Directs, plans, organizes, and manages the daily activities of the medial staff office and is responsible for preparation, organization, and follow-up involved in maintaining hospital accreditation with JCAHO as it relates to Medical Staff Services. Responsible for establishing and maintaining continuity in the planning, development, and implementation of standards applicable to the medical staff that relate to credentialing, privileging, bylaws, and rules and regulations. Also functions as a physician relations representative for the hospital, including physician orientation, Doctor’s Day planning, and physician referrals. Sets up and trains physicians on the Physician Portal. Publishes and maintains the ER call schedules, roster, and physician search webpage. Collects medical staff fees. Coordinates and provides support for medical staff committee meetings and maintains the minutes.
- BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university
- Three to five years of experience in a medical staff office. Knowledge of State, Federal, and JCAHO regulations. Previous credentialing and management experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Working knowledge of The Joint Commission accreditation process and standards, health care and credentialing industry, regulatory and legal requirements and other national standards preferred.
- Current Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) and/or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) with the National Association Medical Staff Services is preferred.
