Philips Personal Health - Project Management Office, Group Lead (H&W) in Shanghai, China

As Group Lead of the Project Management Office (PMO), you are integrally responsible to for the portfolio of R&D projects delivering on time, to budget and to set quality requirements.

You lead a group of Integral Project Leads (IPLs) & Project Support Officers, and ensure overall project management quality. You are the central point of contact for consolidated project and portfolio related information, and you support roadmap definition by delivering the input on project timings and financials.

Key Areas of Responsibility

You manage the group of Integral Project Leads & Project Support Officers:

  • You coach your team, review their performance, set personal targets for your group members, and facilitate their personal development.

  • You manage the continuous improvement agenda for your group and drive excellence in project management.

  • You define and track the project management KPI’s, analyzing poor KPI results, and identifying and implementing countermeasures.

  • You create, deploy and update the Project Management process documents & knowledge.

You organize project reviewing & escalation:

  • You’re responsible for timely escalation of projects/ program issues to appropriate level.

  • You ensure project management resourcing for all category R&D projects, and facilitate the resource management of the complete portfolio.

  • You ensure perfect project startups and drive smart, integral, E2E project plans.

  • You ensure visual project management and drive lean project execution.

  • You continuously improve the project management skills and effectiveness of your group.

  • You inform all stakeholders pro-actively on the status of the projects, in the extended Innovation Team.

You own and improve the project management process:

  • You drive and improve the smart, project-tailored use of Product Development tools, like DOORS and Cemafore.

  • You drive the understanding and smart, tailored use of the IPP, T&FC and IPD procedures in the projects, aligning their application with the all functions.

  • You continuously improves the usage and understanding of Product Documentation Management systems & processes.

Job Requirements & Skills


You have:

  • You have a university degree in a relevant technical subject, preferably Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics engineering or Bio-mechanical engineering.

  • You have a proven track record and experience (>5 years) in leading international, multi-disciplinary, product development projects, with several products launched successfully.

  • Broad experience (> 10 years) in predevelopment, product development and/or quality management of consumer (B2C) or B2B products or systems is required, additional experience in industrialization and supply is an advantage. Preferably, you have worked with medical products or systems.

  • Experience in analysing and aligning the stakeholder environment and needs. You have effective negotiation & communication skills.

  • Preferably, you have an advanced project management certification (PMP, PMI), and are familiar with Design for Six Sigma.
