DSO SECRETARY (OA), GS-0318-05 target 07In this position, you will serve as the principal clerk to the District Superintendent, providing administrative support to the District Superintendent and the District staff. Performs or coordinates the performance of administrative and clerical duties in support of the DSO, a moderately complex organization having a system of formal internal procedures and administrative controls. Coordinates the work of the office with that of other offices. Expedites work by assisting in collection and assembly of data and submission of reports. Keeps Superintendent's calendar and schedules appointments without prior approval, based upon personal knowledge of the Superintendent's workload, interests and commitments, and current important issues.

GS-05 position:In order to qualify for this position, you need one year of specialized experience at the GS-04 level. Examples of specialized experience may include clerical and administrative duties in support of an organization; using multiple automated programs and software such as databases, spreadsheets, and graphics in support of the clerical and administrative work; answering a multiple telephone system; preparing routine correspondence; scheduling meetings and managing an organizations or office calendar.

OR EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION of four years above high school. One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school.

GS-06 position:In order to qualify for this position, you need one year of specialized experience at the GS-05 level. Specialized experience may have been gained while performing various clerical and administrative duties in support of the organization, performing office automation support using multiple automated programs and software such as databases, spreadsheets, and graphics in support of the clerical and administrative work. Example of GS-5 level work may include: 1) controlling and reading all incoming correspondence, screening items to be handled personally, and forwarding the remainder to other for action; 2) receiving requests for information, advising when the information can be furnished, and personal providing authorized information from files and records or following up with others to see that non-routine information is provided; 3) arranging for meetings or conferences including reserving meeting room and notifying participants; 4) requisitioning supplies, equipment and services for the office staff. Work was planned and carried out independently and in accordance with established instructions, priorities, policies and accepted practices. Judgment was used to select existing guidelines that were appropriate for the specific situation.

GS-07 position:In order to qualify for this position, you need one year of specialized experience at the GS-06 level. Specialized experience may have been gained while performing various clerical and administrative duties in support of the organization, performing office automation support using multiple automated programs and software such as databases, spreadsheets, and graphics in support of the clerical and administrative work. Example of specialized experience may include locating and summarizing information from files and documents as required or in anticipation of supervisor's needs; reviewing publications, directives, and other material that may affect the office and determining those that can be acted upon personally and taking necessary action; composing correspondence; and/or reviewing documents prepared for supervisor's signature for conformance with procedures, grammar, format, and special policies.

There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-06 or the GS-07 grade level.

All candidates must be U.S. Citizens and reside within the local commuting area where the position is located. Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community.

Work schedules may be part-time, full-time or school year seasonal. Some positions are part-time with seasonal work schedules.

School year seasonal work schedules include periods in a non-pay/non-duty status during the holiday, spring and summer recess periods.

A qualified typist is required for this position (40wpm).

Applicants may be required to complete a 1-year probationary or trial period.

Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements.

You will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer in accordance with DoD Regulation 7000.14R.

Family member appointments will expire based on the sponsor's rotation date. Family member appointments may not exceed two months after an employee is no longer considered a family member within the local commuting area due to PCS or divorce of sponsor or, in the case of a child, the age of 23. Family members are defined according to the DODI 1400.25, Vol.1232 as: For a military member whose duty station is in a foreign area, the member's spouse or unmarried dependent child. For a civilian US employee as defined by section 2105 of Title 5, United States Code, the employee's spouse, domestic partner, or unmarried dependent child, or unmarried child of the employee's spouse or domestic partner. A family member must physically reside with his or her sponsor to receive family member preference.
