Our Merchandising team, part of the Nordstrom Merchandising Group (NMG), is focused on delivering a complete set of Merchandising capabilities that include planning, allocation, procurement and management of merchandising across all channels of our selling business. This includes servicing our online and in-store channels.
A day in the life…
The Product Manager is an integral member of the NMG team. This team is responsible for shaping the technology portfolio plan for the buying, planning and merchant operations areas. We partner closely with business and technology teams to identify gaps in our technology and/or processes and develop prioritized plans to address business needs to drive results. The Product Manager position is dedicated to shaping the vision for initiatives, establishing scope and high level business requirements, and driving alignment across business and technology stakeholders.
Conduct strategic reviews of technology needs with stakeholders to gauge progress towards long term goals and to identify areas of improvement.
Engage stakeholders throughout Nordstrom to elicit and prioritize requirements for their particular business needs.
Engage and partner with external and internal technology teams to advance solutions that meet Nordstrom’s evolving business needs.
Ensure stakeholders are informed by providing consistent written and in person communication about scope, prioritization, status and escalation.
Manage the portfolio backlog and priorities with our business and technology partners.
Help determine the strategic vision for the Merchandising functions and initiatives.
Collaborate on capital planning efforts on a yearly and half yearly basis to evaluate funding needs, develop business cases and monitor results.
You own this if you have…
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (eg. Business, Communication, Technology), or equivalent experience.
Experience in delivering large and complex business/technology initiatives in an analyst, project management/program management or product management capacity.
Strong analytical skills. Ability to identify/analyze/synthesize information, apply critical thought and present the information in a clear and meaningful way.
Proven ability to communicate technical and functional requirements and approaches.
Proven ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with a high degree of collaboration and influence.
A curious and self-starting approach to identify improvements, make critical decisions and work with subject matter experts throughout the organization to implement solutions.
Ability to multi-task while managing multiple projects from end-to-end, in a demanding and rapidly-changing environment.
Strong organization, time management and project management skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Ability to effectively present to senior level leadership.
Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
High energy/positive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in MS Office suite.
