Jack Henry and Associates CPS Mainframe Software Engineering Supervisor in Seattle, Washington
The Mainframe SoftwareEngineer Supervisorwillmanage a team of engineers who participate in the technical design and implementation of new products or enhancements for Card Processing Solutions (Authorization, Settlement, Card Issue).
Minimum of six years of technical experience in software development (Cobol, CICS, VSAM, DB2).
Experience supervising or managing technical teams.
Bachelor’s degree required; business, software engineering, or computer science degree preferred.
Able to prioritize and plan work activities as needed.
Able to meet aggressive deadlines and handle multiple and complex projects.
Working knowledge of Endevor and Easytrieve a plus.
A strong knowledge in the following areas:
Technical knowledge in software development methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile
Domain and industry knowledge
All phases of the SDLC
Awareness of business issues as they impact overall project plans
Ability to demonstrate strong skills in the following areas:
Software design and implementation
Analysis and design at multiple-project level
Research, analysis and problem resolution
Communication and interpersonal
Organizational and time management
Ability to create deliverables for each phase of the development cycle.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, with minimal assistance, while remaining flexible to changing requirements.
Ability to provide task estimates including effort and cost; able to adjust these estimates as appropriate and necessary.
Directly supervises the analysis, design, development and maintenance of software solutions.
Oversees the definition and documentation of business and technical design requirements. Oversees the preparation of technical design specifications, analysis and recommendations.
Ensures all software solutions and enhancements are fully tested, debugged and meet product quality standards prior to release to QA.
Ensures all reported issues with installations are resolved.Provides guidance for escalated issues.
Determines practicality of ideas based on projected costs and sales potential.
Oversees application administration activities.
Ensures technology solutions support the needs of the customer and/or organization.
Prepares periodic performance appraisals of direct report s and submits to department manager.
Actively participates in defining and improving department processes.
May participate in the recruiting and training processes.
May contribute information for the preparation of annual department budgets.
