Leads Audit's professional practices strategy and sponsors major IRMG initiatives. Responsible for maintaining & developing Audit systems ensuring continuous oversight of quality assurance and data management. Monitors the resolution of issues resulting from audits performed by IRMG – Audit, the Bank's external auditor, and regulatory agencies. Maintains a professional internal audit practices staff with sufficient knowledge, skills, experience and professional certifications. Provide status of audit issues to executive management and the Audit & Finance Committee.

This role has extensive interactions with executive management (up to and including the CEO and Board of Directors), Bank Regulators, and external auditors. Manages multiple direct reports (Senior Managers) and IRMG Responsibility Centers (RCs).

Major Responsibilities: Audit Methods, Planning, and Execution: Communicate and oversee implementation of IRMG management's vision, goals and objectives regarding audit strategy, policies, and professional practices. Lead IRMG Audit program and enhancement, responsive to the OCC's heightened expectation Oversee definition and execution of IRMG-Audit's enterprise risk assessment and annual audit planning programs. Provide the General Auditor, IRMG management, Bank executive management, and the Audit & Finance Committee with appropriate reports/updates (written and verbal) regarding the results of audits and risk assessments. Talent: Attract, recruit, and develop high caliber managerial and professional practices staff talent. Establish and promote a culture that empowers managers and staff to learn and apply leading auditing practices and principles, think outside the box, and continually strengthen individual and team capabilities.

Typically requires 15 years of experience in auditing roles (or equivalent risk function); 8 to 10 years in a senior leadership/managerial capacity. BA/BS degree in business, information technology, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Candidate should hold one of the following certifications: CIA (required for Audit Practices responsibilities); CPA or other relevant professional designation. Position requires extensive experience interacting with executive-level management, audit/board committees, and external stakeholders (e.g., regulators and external auditors). External (Big 4) public accounting firm or comparable financial services audit experience strongly desired. Experience leading a department of similar size and with similar budget and staffing responsibilities preferred. Requires an excellent working knowledge of the financial services/banking industry, regulatory concepts, enterprise/business risk management, and professional auditing methods. Must have experience developing and implementing audit strategies, policies, procedures; managing audit plans, leading enterprise risk assessments, and developing and communicating complex, high-profile audit findings. Ability to assess processes, risks, and controls across organizational boundaries and muster the resources and management attention required to evaluate and formulate effective plans of action.
