Job Description

The Programming Support Manager will be responsible for managing a dynamic programming team of more than 20 employees in Symitar, a Jack Henry division. This team provides 24 hour credit union software support including code modifications and mid–level AIX System Administration.Team includes Employees in San Diego and Allen Texas office. Programming support is also provided to the internal organization as required.


  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in programming or in technical support.

  • Previous leadership or management experience required.

  • Available for After-Hours Escalation Support as scheduled or required


  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Knowledge of SQL and AIX System Administration

  • Excellent communication and customer interaction skills.

  • Excellent organizational and process management skills.

  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent knowledge of company products and services.

  • Able to successfully manage programming support activities.

  • Able to keep abreast of all available software enhancements for company products.

  • Able to work without organizational authority in a lateral direction across organizational boundaries to identify business information needs and to implement applications that fulfill them.

  • Able to meet aggressive deadlines and handle multiple and complex projects.


  • Analyzes existing software enhancements and oversees the implementation of necessary changes to company software internally and externally.

  • Oversees the development of programming code for existing software enhancements.

  • Provides direction in the creation of block diagrams, logic procedures and flowcharting.

  • Ensures code is tested, debugged and meets quality standards.

  • Oversees the development of conversion and system implementation plans; oversees the implementation of newly created code and fixes into existing software.

  • Ensures programming support is provided for various interfaces.

  • Keeps customers informed of all enhancements, troubleshooting, and fixes.
