California State University San Bernardino Student Financial Services Senior Technician(Accounting Technician II)/Accounting Office in San Bernardino, California
Employment Status: Full-time, "non-exempt" probationary position.

Under general supervision the Student Financial Services Senior Technician is responsible for a wide variety of duties requiring close attention to detail and customer service. Independently performs a broad range of tasks requiring independent judgment and initiative.
Incumbent will cashier accepting student payments and department deposits at the service window. Provide customer service on the telephone and at the window for account inquiries which includes disseminating information and explaining account issues to students, faculty, or staff, and resolving problems via the application of departmental policies and procedures. Must utilize the Student Finance system to release holds, analyze, research and answer inquires pertaining to student accounts. Verify daily bank deposit, receipt departmental deposits, reconcile cash drawer daily. Additionally, the incumbent will perform a wide variety of tasks including, research, and distribution of payroll, reconciliations, process wires, credit card payments, alternative loans, scholarships, and other payments. The incumbent will also serve as backup as needed, manage the student club cash, payment plan, scholarship return, stale dated check, and Chaffee grant processes, and perform other duties as assigned. The incumbent will use personal computers, software applications, along with other accounting systems, operate standard office machines; and perform other related duties as assigned.
- In addition to the Accounting Technician I abilities, the applicant must be able to apply accounting procedures and practices to the analysis of basic accounting problems.
- Applicant must analyze and interpret accounting data.
- Applicant must apply problem solving techniques in finding solutions to basic accounting problems.
- Applicant must understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Applicant must use current computer word processing and spreadsheet software programs, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems and/or other types of records management systems, such as student accounting, cashiering and student financial aid.
Applicant must work independently and make sound decisions and recommendations regarding accounting activities. Experience:
Equivalent to three years of progressively responsible financial record-keeping experience which has provided the above knowledge and abilities. Education:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. Supplemental Information
