Employment Status:Full-time , Probationary, "non-exempt" position.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Some evenings and weekends may be required. The work schedule for this position during the summer months is Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (30 minute unpaid meal period).

Typical Activities

The Marketing and Communications Specialist will report to the Office of the Vice President. This position will assist with division writing, editing, proofreading copy, production of division projects including but not limited to annual reports, digital media and printed material, dissemination of information and serve as a primary liaison with the Division of University Advancement, other members, committees, task forces and working groups of the community engaged in marketing and communication efforts. The Specialist will keep informed of campus events and capitalize on opportunities that will promote the University.

The Marketing and Communications Specialist will lead the marketing and communications operations for the Division of Student Affairs to ensure alignment with the University and Student Affairs values and strategic areas of focus. The Specialist will promote and advance the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and its departments by developing communication strategies and implementing marketing plans. The Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing suitable metrics to ensure communications are achieving objectives. Of particular importance will be marketing and communications efforts for the following areas: Admissions, Student Recruitment, Residential Life, Student Activities and Events, and Student Services and Resources. It is expected that the Marketing and Communications Specialist will develop and implement communications and marketing strategies across the Division in a cohesive and integrated manner. These efforts will include but not be limited to print materials, electronic messaging and social media.

The position will enhance the articulate of Student Affairs initiatives, programs and services by consulting with departments on individual marketing and communication plans and ensuring that efforts are not being duplicated; collaborate with department offices to establish and maintain brand guidelines that uphold University standards and establish a consistent and meaningful visual identity.

Other areas of responsibility include but are not limited to maintaining the division website, writing and designing promotional materials, electronic communications, smartphone apps, digital and social media and emerging platforms. In addition, the position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to broadly communicate student engagement opportunities and critical student services to campus constituents.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Management or related field and two (2) years of professional experience in marketing, communications and/or admissions student recruitment. Applicants must have experience in developing and implementing branding and marketing plans for programs, facilities, events, possess good interpersonal and communication skills, have advanced knowledge of various media and communication techniques, working knowledge of FERPA and ADA regulations, and the ability to identify and analyze the needs of various diverse audiences. Applicant must have working knowledge of applicable software packages and basic knowledge of applicable copyright and other laws pertaining to written materials, news media and confidentiality. Applicant must have basic knowledge of market research and related techniques. Working knowledge of summary statistics as they relate to research information.

*Preferred Education and Experience: *

Master's Degree in Marketing, Business Management or related field and five (5) years of professional experience in marketing, communications and/or admissions student recruitment. Experience in a higher education environment, preferably in Student Affairs. Working knowledge of Hobson's or other student recruitment/admissions programs is preferred.
