The Safety Coordinator administers Brandt’s safety program to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This person is entrusted with the care and well-being of Brandt employees and other co-workers on construction job sites. Best candidates will have knowledge of safety processes and procedures specific to plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC, and electricians.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct regular walk-through safety inspections at Brandt construction sites and periodic inspections at Brandt’s fabrication shops, warehouses and office facilities. Evaluate and ensure compliance with company safety program and OSHA regulations – teach employees proper conformance.

  • Document and communicate inspection results. Identify and recommend solutions to hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions. Follow through to ensure employees understand importance of compliance.

  • Monitor jobsite safety performance, including risk assessments, project-specific hazard analyses, task-specific hazard analyses, corrective actions, incident investigations, safety metrics and reporting, and site-specific safety training.

  • Investigate personal injury and property damage claims. Compile data, take photos, etc.; prepare all pertinent forms and reports per established safety procedures and federal, state, and local regulations associated with accidents.

  • Conduct various industrial hygiene samplings, such as gas, CO2, O2, noise tests, etc., to ensure safe working conditions.

  • Issue various permits (i.e., confined space) as required.

  • Conduct employee safety training (i.e., forklift certification, confined space, trenching, etc.).

  • Conduct new hire safety orientation/training.

Best Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • OSHA-500, 510 and/or 511 certification

  • 4-yr. degree in occupational safety/health OR equivalent combination of technical training and related safety experience preferred

  • Servant Leadership attitude – the purpose is to protect and train our people

  • Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company safety regulations

  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • Availability to work various weekends and evenings as required by individual projects and jobsites
