HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Rehab Admissions Coordinator in San Antonio, Texas

General Statement of Duties: The Admissions Coordinator assumes the responsibility for the coordination of an effective, efficient admission process for all patients by receiving referrals from the CRS and other referral sources, coordinating with the Clinical Rehab Specialist, gathering and verifying pertinent information, and completing necessary procedures to schedule and admit inpatients. This position is a key pull-through for referrals and compiles and inputs statistical information into appropriate hospital systems. Essential Job Functions: 1. Analyzes and interprets numerical/statistical information to draw conclusions; identifies and implements cost-reduction opportunities; communicates to CRS and/or Case Manager’s the patient’s financial responsibility and requirements for insurance benefits and works with all; and gathers and collects pertinent clinical information to aid in the insurance approval process. 2. Applies primary and secondary medical diagnostic information to support presentation of assessment/admission the insurance provider and all other necessary parties; Identifies and resolves causes of business, staff, and customer problems using quality improvement principles. 3. Communicates effectively and timely with CRS, Program Director and/or Medical Director as needed, relaying non-Medicare insurance information, to allow for timely approval and admission; complete admission assessment forms in complete to include all authorization numbers, days approved and when updates are due; and coordinates final admission approvals that come through communications with the Medical Director, Clinical Rehab Specialist and Program Director. 4. Coordinates payment negotiations as dictated by Business Office Manager, Rehab Program Director and/or Finance Department; provides pertinent clinical information to non-Medicate payors, for initial pre-certification of rehab stay in a timely manner; assures Medicare/or other payment sources are current, accurate and available; and Initiates and manages the appeals process when denials are received. 5. Cultivates positive relationships with and maintain an environment of collaboration and cooperation at all levels of the organization, including the Medical and clinical staff, referral sources and community partners. 6. Performs pre-certifications, insurance verifications and is responsible for the data integrity with regard to referral tracking; assesses patient condition, status, needs and medical record data for cost/benefit analysis and medical determination for program admissions.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics: 1. Education: ADN/BSN for RN degree, or Bachelor of Science in related field. 2. Experience: 2 years of rehab and/or hospital admissions experience, nursing or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 3. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable). 4. Preferred: Registered Nurse (RN) with rehab and/or hospital admissions experience. Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required: 1. Required: Licensed Clinician 2.
