Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to collect and analyze data to evaluate existing and potential product/service markets for an assigned functional area. Leads defined market research projects of moderate scope and complexity. Guidance is provided to perform varied, complex, activities that require evaluation, originality and ingenuity in making moderately complex decisions. Regular contact with internal customers and external research sources is required to obtain, clarify and provide information or plan, coordinate or advise on research projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develops objectives and determines method of gathering data for market research projects to support assigned functional area in meeting strategic objectives.

• Designs, develops and manages market research projects, analyzes factors such as pricing, distribution, and product performance, and reports results.

• Researches market conditions or changes in the industry that may affect sales.

• Studies reasons for customer attraction and terminations.

• Identifies and monitors competitors and analyze competitive strengths and weaknesses of competitive products/services.

• Analyzes primary and secondary research and provides results and insights into market trends and preferences.

• Reviews and analyzes the service/product posture of assigned functional area; projects returns from new and existing products; and prepares market share charts.

• Maintains market intelligence database and examines, analyzes, compiles and presents statistical data used in the development of marketing plans.

• Maintains records and files on research projects.

• May use computer modeling techniques.

• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Advanced marketing theories, principles and practices and their application to assigned functional area.

• Data gathering and primary and secondary techniques.

• Advanced analytical and statistical modeling tools and techniques.

• Concepts of lifetime value and return on investment (ROI).

• Customer analysis and profiling; market segmentations; program tracking and evaluation; and test design market data analysis.

• General concepts and practices of competitive intelligence.

• Principles and practices of public relations and customer service.

*Educational/Previous Experience Requirements: *

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and a minimum of five (5) years professional market research experience in the financial services industry preferred.


• Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
