The Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Centerat Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicineis an international leader in cancer treatment, research, prevention, education and community outreach. It is the only cancer center in Missouri and within a 240-mile radius of St. Louis to hold the prestigious Comprehensive Cancer Center designation from the National Cancer Institute and membership in the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. Division 3200 is a 25 bed unit that provides care to oncology patients who are hospitalized for cancer treatment and symptom management, including support for Chemotherapy, pain management, support of radiation, intervention of blood products, etc. The care is moderate to high acuity. Care includes high complexity interventions. Care is coordinated by a multidisciplinary team including oncology nurses, advanced practice nurses, case managers, coordinators, social workers, spiritual care, pharmacy and psycho-social support.
Creates and implement staff education and professional development activities and programs that optimize patient outcomes.
Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates ongoing educational and professional development activities and programs for clinical and non-clinical areas.
Collaborates with staff and representatives of other organizations to develop, present and or evaluate clinically focused training, continuing education and or professional development opportunities.
Participates in activities that promote safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
Collaborates with leadership to assess the educational needs of the staff and develops appropriate education plan.
Participates in professional development and life long learning.
