Role Purpose

Manages a nationally verified American College of Surgeons Level I Trauma Center. Facilitates the delivery of quality care to the trauma and acute care surgery patient, either directly or indirectly, throughout the continuum of care from pre-hospitalization to rehabilitation. Serves as a liaison to national, state, regional and community resources/agencies involved in trauma and acute care surgery.


  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.

  • Manages the operations of Trauma Services and integration with other departments.

  • Develops and implements a strategy to maintain the hospital as a leader in trauma and acute care surgery.

  • Researches, evaluates, selects and implements systems which improve efficiency of department operations and database management.

  • Provides oversight and leadership for performance improvement and patient safety activities.

  • Leads the professional education efforts of the trauma program to provide trauma specific education to nurse, paramedics, physicians and others in trauma care in conjunction with community area health providers.

Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree

    • Nursing


  • 5-10 years

Supervisor Experience

  • 2-5 years

Licenses & Certifications

  • ACLS

  • RN

  • TNCC

Preferred Requirements


  • Master's Degree

    • Nursing
