Role Purpose

The licensed Paramedic provides direct patient care support services under the supervision of a registered nurse and or physician in compliance with Hospital and Family and Child Services policies and protocols. Role routinely works with critical unstable patients. Role is responsible for independently performing specified invasive procedures. Role supports critical care air transport services to and from designated inter-hospital patient transports. Also responsible for driving and daily upkeep of the Mobile Intensive Care Units which are used in inter-hospital transfer of patients.


  • Routinely performs invasive procedures independently and or as directed by the RN; procedures include blood drawing, IV insertion, foley or nasogastric catheter insertion, and intubation.

  • Monitors patients for change in clinical conditions and appropriately communicating that change to RN and Physician accordingly.

  • Provides care of service appropriate to the age of the patients served. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care of service appropriate to the age of the patients served, this includes adult populations. provide care of service appropriate to the age of the patients served, this includes adult populations.

  • Assists with the set up for procedures, obtains specimens as requested, responsible for patient immobilization, and coordinates inter-hospital and intra-hospital transport/transfer of patients by all modes.

  • Assists with the maintenance and/or cleaning of patient care equipment; performs routine equipment function test/calibrations, reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate department. Assists with the inventory of supplies and equipment ensuring adequate supply levels. Operates Mobile Intensive Care Units in a safe manner at all times.

Minimum Requirements


  • High School Diploma or GED


  • 2-5 years

Licenses & Certifications

  • ACLS

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Class E Driver's License

  • Paramedic
