Role Purpose

The position will lead and coordinate the clinical pathways development for the 12,000 patients that undergo one of 50 identified operations at BJH that are characterized as frequent and complex. These pathways cover patients across eight phases of care from prop through inpatient to post discharge care that include five OR pods, 18 Divisions or Section of speciality Surgeons and numerous ICUs and inpatient care units. The best practices developed influence the achievement of length of stay, patient satisfaction and quality/safety goals.


  • Coordinate the development of clinical pathways for high frequency and complex operations affecting the care of surgical patients .

  • Develop a data supported compliance program that identifies variance and accounts for appropriate and inappropriate adherence to guidelines.

  • Create key performance indicators for measurable outcomes that demonstrate the value of the program

  • Influence the development of order sets that can guide current therapy and support the transition to EPIC electronic medical record

  • Teach high reliability standard work habits that can proliferate across the organization as best practices for all patients

Minimum Requirements


  • Master's Degree


  • 2-5 years
