Role Purpose

Utilizes clowning and the associated skills to address the social and emotional needs of patients and families who receive services at the hospital.


  • Fosters appropriate independence and feelings of competency by utilizing age appropriate activities in which the patient is capable of participating.

  • Encourages expression and a sense of control for patients by allowing appropriate choices of activities during individual visits.

  • Consults with patient unit's Child Life Specialists to determine appropriateness for individual visits and aspects of patient care to include during interaction.

  • Demonstrates and advocates for family-centered care.

Minimum Requirements


  • High School Diploma or GED


  • 2-5 years
