Serco Inc is searching for a Systems Analyst with a strong background in and demonstrated aptitude for Modeling and Simulation to provide focused services in that regard for the Business Shared Services Team. (Some of the skills needed for this position are similar to what is needed for industrial engineering or operations research, albeit with a business process orientation.)

Tasks and responsibilities associated with this position include:

• Meets with internal and external stakeholders to gather operational goals, to highlight process weakness and resource limitations and to develop and review analyzing alternatives based on the diagnostic results of Modeling and Simulation

• Performs modeling, simulation and other types of analysis to analyze and predict system performance, to validate sizing and configuration, to identify bottlenecks and to optimize design to meet or exceed established throughput, resource and capacity requirements.

• Performs trade studies as needed to evaluate design and/or component alternatives, which are then designed as experiments’ to test defined hypotheses about those alternatives through Modeling and Simulation

• Analyzes, interprets and documents results of Modeling and Simulation activities, and provides feedback to other integrated product team analysts for incorporation into system design

• Continually analyzes and interprets performance metrics from fielded, operational systems to calibrate and tune system models

• Understands and applies simulation concepts and approaches, including discrete simulation, stochastic modeling and statistical analyses

• Analyzes enterprise operational information (EOI) generated by processes under analysis, including leveling data of different granularity in order to support simulation of models

• Builds process diagrams (e.g., in MS Visio) to capture the translation of inputs into outputs, to generate measurable value and to communicate domain understanding of the process being modeled

• Builds and maintains models and runs simulations in Serco’s Modeling and Simulation tool (Simul8)

Required Skills Preferred Skills and Education:

The ideal candidate should have a strong grasp on Modeling and Simulation concepts, theories and methodologies as indicated through training, work experience, and demonstrated aptitude. This includes knowing the following:

• Token-based simulation

• Leveling the granularity of enterprise operational information (EOI) generated by processes being simulated to support simulation of related activities in one or more model

• Statistical analyses (mean, variance/standard deviation, scatter plots, histograms, Pareto charts, probability distributions, etc.)

• Process modeling languages, with significant hands-on experience with BPMN 2.0 preferred

Bachelor's Degree and 5-10 years’ work experience or equivalent experience
