Nurse Manager – Behavioral Health
Position Summary: A Nurse Manager and Registered nurse responsible for the 24 hour, seven day a week functions of a clinical nursing unit(s). Administers plans and evaluates the activities of the department(s) to ensure quality patient care. Develops goals, policies and procedures, prepares and submits operating and capital budgets, participates in multidisciplinary QI teams, consults with staff, physicians and other departments as needed. Manages staffing patterns with the assistance of Assistant Nurse Managers and the House Supervisors on a shift-to-shift basis. Follows policies and procedures of West Florida Hospital. Participates in the Quality Improvement process and adheres to WFH standards of behavior.
Essential Functions : The RN Manager will have a medium workload - exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs frequently and/or up to 10 lbs constantly. The RN Manager manages stress appropriately and can make decisions under pressure and handle multiple priorities. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment and leadership. Demonstrates knowledge base of clinical nursing and basic management principles. The minimum requirements of this position require the individual to: stand, sit, stoop, bend, walk, squat, push/pull up to 50 lbs, have good hand-eye coordination, have good manual dexterity, and have clarity of vision.
Education : Associate’s Degree (or Diploma) in Nursing is required; a current and clear Florida Registered Nurse license is required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred. Experience : A minimum of five (5) years management experience is required. Skills/Abilities : Clinical, organizational, critical thinking, multi-tasking, interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills in a detail-oriented, customer-focused organization are required. Basic computer skills are required.
