This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

  • The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Information Technology Specialist providing IT systems technical services and technical oversight to critical, national initiatives related to world-wide enterprise Information Technology solutions and associated for AFTAC and detachments.

  • Serves as a systems administrator for IT servers, emerging technology trends, IT technical solutions analyses, and products.

  • Coordinates and manages organization IT and communication technology activities in support of internal and external mission requirements and associated activities.

  • Forecasts the potential value and use of new IT software developments to the organization to include budget justifications for software/hardware purchases; initiates procurement of hardware and special software.

  • Serves as liaison with the center Plans & Programs directorate to define business requirements, reviews IT deliverables, and evaluates and tests hardware and software.

  • Other duties as assigned.

*ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: *This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS) position implemented under Section 504, Title V of Public Law 99-569, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987, as codified in Sec 1601, Chap 83 of Title 10 United States Code which sets forth Air Force policies and procedures for DCIPS. This position is in the Excepted Service.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. In-depth knowledge of a wide range of IT principles, concepts and methods to include, but not limited to, basic LAN/WAN and systems principles/practices sufficient to install, configure, and troubleshoot components.

  2. Knowledge of Information Technology infrastructure systems administration policies, processes, best practices, and requirements as they relate to performing as a senior systems engineer in an Enterprise mission systems environment.

  3. In-depth knowledge of customer support principles, methods, and procedures for documenting problem resolutions and providing guidance and training to customers and subordinates.

  4. In-depth knowledge of Equipment Control Officer DoD, AF, and organization regulations, procedures, guidelines, and processes pertaining to IT system architecture, integration technologies and testing methods to initiate corrective or preventative action.

  5. In-depth knowledge of complexities of existing technology, initiates plans for enhancement, and provide management sufficient technical and cost analysis information, through written documentation and oral briefings, to render informed judgements.

  6. Knowledge of security procedures to maintain control of classified material.

  7. Ability to gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluative methods to assess information, plan the sequence of actions necessary, make sound decisions, and solve a variety of problems.

  1. Position is designated critical-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS)security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.

Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position may be required to achieve the appropriate Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2certification within 6 months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification, if deemed required, may result in removal from this position.
