Senior Mechanical Engineer
We challenge you to support Philips Healthcare as a Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Medical Consumables & Sensors (MCS) Business Innovation Unit (BIU). This person will be responsible for supporting both NPI, OEM and Legacy projects. The Senior Mechanical Engineer would lead the Mechanical Engineering effort in a cross functional, cross organizational environment for the development of projects that deliver solutions to the market. This person would create and own the mechanical project plan that defines the applicable requirements, time, budget, resources and scope of the mechanical project deliverables, in compliance with the Philips Product Realization Process. This person would work closely with the Program Manager to deliver all the mechanical elements necessary for successful market introduction according to the Philips New Product Introduction process.
The design environment is specific to Medical Device Patient Vital Signs Monitoring and other associated systems operating in a Magnetic Resonant (MRI) environment.
Leading the Mechanical Design, realization and test of a new medical product, system, subsystem and component, understands and communicates consequences of the design on the architecture.
Create FMEA Risk driven Mechanical Design Specifications, including test requirements
Finalizes the required design specifications, schematics, 3D/2D CAD models and drawings and writes test scenarios and protocols for the developed modules or components.
Design, develop, prototype and provide engineering test verifications specific to Mechatronics related mechanisms and other Kinematic, Motion Control sub-system components.
Creates a personal schedule and reports on progress to the project leader in a structured and methodical way and is responsible for keeping the costs of the activities in alignment with the calculated budget.
Provides coaching role for the technicians and less experienced engineers
Collaboratively and effectively communicate within R&D, cross functionally and external to the BIU as required.
The Medical Consumables and Sensors Business Innovation Unit (MCS BIU) identifies and meets customer and market needs by designing, developing, and distributing consumable and sensor products that enable clinical measurement for Philips Healthcare and non-Philips patient monitoring solutions. MCS also designs, markets and distributes to customers around the world a portfolio of products that provide developmental care solutions in perinatal markets in addition to providing global customers specialized MRI compatible patient monitoring solutions, consumables and sensors.
You will report directly to the Senior Manager of Development Engineering for MCS Specialty Care in Philips Patient Care & Monitoring Solutions (PCMS) Health Business System. The position has no direct staff supervisory responsibilities. It is responsible for the project specific tasks. This position is based in Orlando, FL and relocation is not available for this position. Percent of total time spent traveling will vary from 10 to 30%, depending on the specific project.

We are looking for
The successful candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills education and experience:
3-7 years of professional experience in medical device development
BS in mechanical engineering required.
Proficient in 3D / 2D pro/e CAD or equivalent
Special emphasis on a demonstrated Mechatronics background where complex electronic packaging exist in conjunction with the following applications: Kinematics, Mechanisms, Robotics, Motion Control (single plane X/Y, complex multi-axis is a plus).
Robust knowledge of design controls and risk management standards
