This intermediate level position is responsible for providing technical support to the Geoscience department, under general supervision. Responsibilities include loading entering, verifying, manipulating, analyzing, and reporting geoscience data. Provides user support for software systems, which may include installation and maintenance of software and troubleshooting user problems.

Job Description

Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides technical and administrative support to Geoscientists performing geological, geophysical, or petrophysical assignments.
  • Performs advanced data management activities. Loads/enters, verifies, manipulates, analyzes, and prepares reports of geoscience data.
  • Formats and prepares data for presentations.
  • Provides user support for software systems, including the installation and maintenance of software and troubleshooting user problems.
  • Performs calculations, and preliminary analysis of data for Geoscientists.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills with capability to become expert user.
  • Working knowledge of department specific software and system applications.
  • Understands common oil and gas terminology.
  • Able to recognize errors and seek solutions in a methodical manner.
  • Understands file storage systems, conversions, networks, and basic data management techniques.
  • Understands the basics of well logs (type, reading header, etc.).

Education, Licenses and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Science, GIS/IT or related degree field from accredited university preferred.

Work Experience

  • 2-5+ years of related work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-4 years of experience in GGX preferred.
  • Experience with all GGX modules (project maintenance, Prizm module, Xsec module, GGX production workflows, etc.) preferred.
  • Regional experience preferred.
  • Eastern US experience preferred.
  • Experience managing a large project preferred.
