Incumbent will perform mixed duties of a general nature in the maintenance and care of grounds and their related facilities. Duties include but are not limited to cleaning day use areas, grounds mowing, trimming, trash collection, equipment preventive maintenance, painting, vehicle operation, equipment inventory, operation of equipment for trail maintenance. The incumbent functions as a team member when assisting on projects and work assignments. Able to interpret verbal instructions and carry out directives received from higher graded members of the team. Duties are performed at the helper level. The incumbent communicates important information to the supervisor and co-workers.

The Assessment Questionnaire is designed to measure your ability in the following competencies needed to successfully perform on the job:
- Knowledge of technical practices, tools, and equipment related to a variety of trades such as electrical work, plumbing, painting, carpentry, and building and trail maintenance.
- Ability to use and maintain hand and power tools, equipment and motor vehicles.
- Ability to perform sanitation maintenance on grounds and buildings.
Basis for rating:
Applicants who meet the qualification requirements specified above for this position will be evaluated, and a score assigned, based upon the responses provided on the job specific questionnaire that is required as part of the application process for this position.
Applicants who meet the qualification requirements based on responses provided in the Applicant Assessment Questionnaire will be placed in one of three categories: Best-Qualified, Well-Qualified or Qualified. Within these categories, applicants referred to the selecting official that are eligible for Veteran's Preference will receive selection priority over Non-Veterans.

Physical demands:Works from ladders, scaffolds and platforms and where surfaces to be coated, or the parts of systems worked on, are hard to reach, that require incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds.
Work environment:Work is performed inside and outside where dirt, spray and fumes are present. Also required to work in inclement weather and/or wear protective equipment and clothing that are sometimes heavy and uncomfortable.**
