Description The Licensed Practical Nurse implements the patient care plan established by the Physician utilizing practice standards and administers patient care through the implementation of the nursing process. This process includes collaboration in the continuous, nursing, diagnosing, planning, implementing and evaluating of patient care and education

Assists the physicians with patients during scheduled office hours. Direct patients to exam rooms and assist with evaluation and examination as necessary.

Review records in the EPIC for completeness and updates the Meaningful use requirements. In EPIC responsible for answering MY CHART questions, refilling Surescript requests and forwarding to the physicians basket.

Assist in patient histories, and prepare patients for exams, treatment, and/or procedures.

Assist in procedures including diagnostic evaluations, medical and/or surgical treatments.

Assist in pre-operative evaluation and teaching.

Provide instruction to patients and families when required including medications prescribed, dressings, home care, and follow-up care. Offer teaching tools as necessary; i.e. brochures, written handouts/instructions, audiovisual material.

According to policy, may review ‘no-show’ records to determine the necessity of future follow-up. Document ‘no-show’ status and the action taken in the medical record.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care or services appropriate to the age of the patient served in the department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age specific needs.

Receive patient telephone calls for nursing advice and triage appropriately.

Participate in continuous quality improvement activities.

Supervise the Medical Assistant duties and responsibilities including the daily maintenance of the clinic.

Requirements Excellent communication skills to promote harmonious working relationships among professional staff and between other disciplines and departments to provide quality patient care. Ability to be a team player. Strong organizational skills. High school graduate. Successful completion of certified training program.
