Purpose of the Job

  1. To support the creation, development and business wide adoption of the appropriate H&SE Compliance strategy in line with the Credit Suisse/CBRE Health, Safety & Environmental strategy, policy and process.

  2. To monitor, review & analyse HSE performance identifying appropriate initiatives & differentiators to ensure performance improvement through the AMERICAS.

  3. To support the implementation of the Credit Suisse/CBRE Health and Safety strategy to ensure a safe, healthy and environmentally compliant working environment whilst furthering best practice standards within the business and the supply chain.

  4. To work with Credit Suisse & CBRE employees to facilitate the achievement of consistency in best working practice, delivered through the definition and adoption of working practices that provide and maintain confidence and drive continual improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  1. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery and implementation of the companies HSE strategy in accordance with ethical guidelines and corporate policies of both CBRE and Credit Suisse in our client’s buildings and the delivery of Contractual QHSE related KPIs with demonstrable evidence of legal compliance. You will have experience of operating at both managerial and operational levels across the AMERICAS and understand the various legislative frameworks across region.

  2. Support the development, implementation, management & review the account specific HSE business plan and objectives in line with the Group strategic HSE plan and objectives for the company. Including the long term forecasting and planning for both policy and resource requirements.

  3. Liaise with the CBRE business line leaders and Credit Suisse managers to ensure expectations are understood and delivered, as far as is reasonable enabling suitable management of risk exposures.

  4. Enable compliance with all business-wide policy and strategy through management system audits. Ensure an up to date schedule for necessary and appropriate audits is maintained and the necessary audits are carried out in accordance with this schedule.

  5. Ensure the systems and processes you implement across the AMERICAS reflect the intentions of CBRE and Credit Suisse and are in compliance with best industry practice (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001, (or similar regional alternatives).

  6. Lead the provision of guidance and practical expertise on HSE topics ensuring there is appropriate day-to-day support and guidance to our team, our supply partners and Credit Suisse and CBRE.

  7. Responsible for risk management across the Credit Suisse/CBRE AMERICAS portfolio. Accountable for co-ordinating activities across the AMERICAS to achieve full compliance related to KPI activities.

  8. Lead & support initiatives and best practice activities in all areas of HSE management and promote and maintain the behaviours and values of the business.

  9. Lead the development and maintenance of the Credit Suisse/CBRE HSE training strategy. Support it’s delivery to enable standards of QHSE competence to be achieved and maintained across the AMERICAS.

  10. Ensure account based HSE ‘Risk Champions’ are established and manage delivery of objectives.

  11. Manage the business relationship with externally sourced HSE resource as required.

  12. Ensure the achievement of agreed business functional standards and service level agreements.

  13. Compile appropriate performance reports for the business / work stream and maintain performance monitoring, analysis and review against established metrics and standards to drive improvements.

  14. Support the achievement of good industry practice, business competitiveness, and the development of a learning organisation.

  15. Support effective business communication through advice, review, leadership and direct contribution to management and team meetings, briefings, consultation forums, correspondence, publicity, monthly and ad-hoc reporting and other publications, as appropriate.

  16. Support the health, safety and environmental aspects of the new business winning process through solutions development, participation in presentations and consultation meetings, bid & contract generation and review through to support during mobilisation and resourcing activities on the account.

  17. You will manage client relationships at operational level that povide performance assuarances and enhance Credit Suisse/CBRE’s HSE standing and provide absolute assurances to Credit Suisse and to CBRE Senior Stakeholders.

  • Good knowledge of NFPA and NFC New York, Manhattan.\

  • Management of people, a small team of two reporting into the role.

  • Formal qualifications in environmental management system auditing or safety management system auditing.

  • Conversant with (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001, (or similar regional alternatives).

  • Must be able to demonstrate a career showing continuous personal development in the related field of HSE.

  • Specialist and strategic higher managerial experience in Health, Safety and Environmental Management.

  • A practical and demonstrable knowledge of liaising with enforcement agency / insurers.

  • Writing of HSE standards/guidelines for inclusion within a safety management system.

  • Risk Management strategy development and implementation

  • Best Value analysis of HSE resource support provision.

  • Monitoring and Analysis of management system performance.

  • Development and implementation of policy and process.

  • Environmental risk and ‘resource’ evaluation and management.

  • Positively articulate HSE through suitable presentation media.

  • Accident/Hazard investigation & analysis to drive improvementsDevelopment and delivery of HSE training.

  • Working knowledge of varying business sectors.

  • Managerial experience within other functional disciplines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Numerate with a high degree of computer literacy.

  • Excellent motivational and influencing skills.

  • Able to contribute effectively and on equal terms across all business activities.

  • Must have a high level of energy, be self-starters, confident and stable in manner, and be able to prioritize and work on a range of activities within a high pressure environment.

  • May be required to travel across the AMERICAS region and on occasions, support new business development, and participate in training and strategic reviews.

  • Occasional overnight stays will be needed.

Bachelors degree (BA/BS) in HSE from four-year college or university. Minimum of 5 years of related experience. Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state and local health and safety, and environmental regulations is essential. Direct experience dealing with regulatory agencies and / or compliance officers is preferred. Experience working in manufacturing, construction, and / or facility maintenance and management is preferred. As required by local authority (if required). Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) - Preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues. Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis. Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
