Responsible for developing and implementing high level business strategy and ensuring that the results are monitored. The Associate role is part of the Global Markets Division for the Americas Business Planning/Strategy group in HQA New York. Includes the development and review of all strategic, growth/diversification and financial business plans including potential mergers, acquisitions and disposals. Responsible for aligning the firm's objectives with its human capital and financial resources. Day-to-day focus is on resolution of complex problems or transactions, where expertise is required to interpret against policies, guidelines or processes. Role at this level usually has full ownership for one or more processes, reports, procedures or products, and may also be considered analytical or procedural experts representing a unit or team on cross-function process or project deliverables.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the production of supporting analysis for Global Markets Business Strategy related project, initiatives and tasks as requested.

  • Track, monitor and regularly report projects/initiatives as needed with MUFG and BTMU bank wide collaboration project etc.

  • Coordinate with relevant parties to prepare for senior level meetings and committee, including preparation of meeting materials and creation and maintenance of meeting records as instructed

  • Manage special projects and other tasks as assigned by Head of Business Planning Department.

  • Liaise with Tokyo Head Office.

  • BA degree with an emphasis in analytical disciplines (Finance and/or Accounting) is preferred; Advanced degree desirable.

  • Excellent Bilingual (Japanese/English) communication/language skills required.

  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in consulting or banking with strong understanding of strategic planning processes (business planning, analysis, strategic forecasting).

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, self-starter.

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

  • Excellent understanding of data management and quantitative reporting skills.

  • Advanced knowledge/proficiency of MS Office (with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to use judgment and decision making on a regular basis regarding assigned and ad hoc duties, with limited supervision.

  • Strong presentation skills to briefly but accurately explain complex subjects to senior management.

  • Strong knowledge and intellectual curiosity especially in Global Markets business and regulations.

  • Strong project and process management skills/experience.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal SMEs.

  • Ability to effectively work in a collaborative team environment.
