The Nurse Coordinator provides trauma education and injury prevention under the supervision of theTrauma Program Director and ensures effective and efficient implementation of the trauma educational plan according to key educational processes across the trauma continuum of care. These educational processes include: orientation, annual competence assessment, required training, ongoing development and performance improvement.

Ability to work effectively with patients, families, and the community. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Clinical * Acts as a resource to staff and assists in problem solving relating to the care of the trauma patient.
Participates in daily rounds when needed with the Trauma Medical Director for the hospitalized trauma patient.
Assists Trauma Medical Director in coordinating care with the attending physicians, consulting physicians, rehabilitation staff, dietician, and nursing.
Collects, analyzes and reports on patient outcomes, QI Indicators and variance data to improve trauma patient care process and outcomes .
Accepts responsibility for being a resource for designated clinical expertise through mentoring, precepting, unit rounds, in-services, staff meetings and informal opportunities.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Responds to trauma alert pages when available to provide support and evaluate effectiveness of trauma resuscitation process. Initiate process improvement recommendations to optimize patient quality of care
Coordinates flow of quality improvement data to all stakeholders.
Attends monthly Trauma PIPS committee meetings to present information related to education and injury prevention plan.
Works with the trauma registry and marketing director in injury prevention planning.
In conjunction with the Director of Trauma Services, acts as a liaison for the hospital and the trauma program with community, local, regional, and state agencies involved in the care of the trauma patient.
Maintains current knowledge of trauma care standards and trauma resource including Trauma Registry. Participates and leads hospital-wide trauma education and outreach efforts for hospital and the community as outlined in Tennessee Trauma Standards and the American College of Surgeons.
Leads trauma educational activities.
Plans activities based on performance improvement indicators and evaluates effectiveness of plans.
Assists with the development and provision of organizational-wide educational opportunities for staff to gain knowledge and skills, investiage new approaches and advance clinical competence. TNCC Instructor
Recommends and assists in the development of continuing education programs based on assessment of the unit needs .
Qualifications: Three to Five Years nursing experience in ED or Critical Care. Experience in a trauma setting preferred. Valid TN Nursing license (or eligible) BLS, ACLS, PALS/ENPC, TNCC/ATCN certification required. TNCC Instructor. Preferred certifications: CEN, CCRN or TNS TNCC Provider, BLS, ACLS, ENPC
Degree of Supervisor Required: Associates Required, Bachelors Degree, BSN preferred.
