GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Cancer Navigator Director oversees the  enterprise wide navigation program and the respective navigators.  The primary function is to develop and maintain a navigation program for disease site specific cancer sites.  This role is also responsible for overseeing AskSarah resources to assist in Sarah Cannon outreach and services.    
 
The Cancer Navigator Director functions to create navigation plans for disease site specific oncology care.  They also assumes responsibility and accountability for the management of resources to achieve efficient, high quality outcomes for each cancer patient including support for interdisciplinary and cross facility collaboration e.g. tumor boards, and referrer communication. 

On an aggregate level, the Cancer Navigator Director will track performance of the program in line with HCA, division and facility goals (growth, quality, practice guidelines, etc.) and identify opportunities to streamline care practice, for example through development of evidence-based guidelines.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of navigators and navigator services, analyzing appropriate internal and external data and information to identify opportunities in collaboration with stakeholders for improving services and patient outcomes.
• Promotes research and integrates evidenced-based knowledge into the identification of best practice in the delivery of oncology patient navigation.
• Promotes and monitors regulatory agency standards and customer service expectations for the practice of patient navigation.
• Oversees the practices and processes of ASKSarah. 
• Responsible for operating within an approved budget.
• Ensures navigators have availability and operation of necessary equipment and/or resources to navigate patient effective through the continnum of care. 
• Ensure quality of care to executives and their families represents "best in class" care
• Serves on appropriate oncology leadership committees and ensures representation at  cancer committees across the division.
• Assists in the development and follow-thru of oncology programs across the enterprise..
• Drive process improvement.  Ensure reporting is in place to demonstrate program outcomes and support performance improvement activities.
• Stay current on the latest oncology nursing developments and participate in conferences.
• Ensure service continuity. Establish appropriate mechanisms to ensure service continuity during both planned and unplanned absence and undertake succession planning.
• Provides leaderhip, direction and guidance to assigned staff.
• Coordinates and maintains the required training and skills of staff. 
• Implements corrective action and conducts performance evaluations. 
• Effectively addresses personnel issues in order to promote a productive and healthy work environment.
• Undertake other leadership duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
• Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required

EXPERIENCE
• Minimum five years oncology nursing experience required; Nurse Practitioner experience is preferred
• Experience in program development preferred
• Experience as a nurse navigator and / or patient educator in oncology preferred
• Experience in leadership preferred
• Experience in customer service preferred

CERTIFICATE / LICENSE
• Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) (Required)
• Current licensure as a registered nurse (Required)
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification achieved or in progress (Required)
