DTE Energy Environmental Specialist in Morgantown, West Virginia
Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Provides expertise on environmental programs, regulations, permit conditions and equipment. Intermediate-level professional, acts as a liaison on environmental issues within and outside the Company,independently developing and monitoring environmental projects and workgroups; gives technical assistance to clients. May provide training, lead work groups and committees to identify solutions to environmental problems of moderate-to-significant complexity. Performs a range of intermediate-to-complex tasks, recognizing and implementing needed actions without immediate direction. May commit limited Company resources in response to emergency cleanup activities.
_ Primary Duties and Responbilities_
Develops and implements environmental training programs.
Develops, monitors, and may lead environmental projects and programs.
Provides project/field engineering or technical assistance on various environmental projects.
Ensures environmental regulatory compliance by monitoring, reporting, developing and implementing procedures and strategies.
Facilities/application expert on programs, systems, regulations and permit condition.
Independently recommends and implements environmental solutions involving the engineering, design, operation, and maintenance of Company assets.
Performs, coordinates, and recommends solutions for environmental issues based on investigations, tests and monitoring results.
Represents the Company and is the liaison on environmental issues with regulatory agencies, emergency responders, and industry peers.
Reviews and interprets environmental regulations and proposed regulatory changes to assess impact to ensure compliance; keeps abreast of and applies current and new technology.
Observes and helps develop safety and security procedures determines appropriate actions beyond guidelines, reports potentially unsafe conditions and recommends/leads appropriate corrective actions.
Performs environmental analysis, trending of data, special tests,and investigations for client needs.
All other duties, as assigned.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities*
MINIMUM: High School diploma or GED and 9 plus years of job related experience, or; Associates' degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental studies, environmental economics & policy, or a
relevant environmental science degree & 3-plus years of job related experience. Additionally,
Proficiency in computer applications applicable to specificwork field/discipline.
Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple projects and assignments.
Knowledge of the Corporation’s business philosophy; understands the environmental implications of decisions and recommendations and strives to accomplish business goals in balance with environmental protection/stewardship opportunities, environmental regulations and equipment.
Makes decisions systematically, can make decisions under pressure,builds a consensus, considers impact of decisions and works to minimize negative impacts.
Works well in groups and with people on all levels both within and outside the company, helps resolve conflicts, facilitate meetings, is flexible and open-minded and focuses team on strategies and goals.
