Test, monitor, assess, and analyze the dependability and effectiveness of the bank’s information security controls to ensure continuous operational effectiveness. Present technical analysis and measures to executive management. Provide input into new security strategies and trends as well as measure and report on the processes that affect the integrity, functionality, and reliability of the bank’s security control framework.
The IPS Engineer is a key position in providing assurance on the controls safeguarding the bank’s information assets.
Specifically, the position is responsible for:
Ensuring information security performance is monitored on an ongoing basis
Conducting assessment and analysis on the bank’s information security controls
Assessing the efficiency, relevance, and integrity of collected data
Identifying control deficiencies by analyzing and identifying underlying root causes
Designing, implementing, and collaborating on a range of information security metrics and performance reports
Assisting stakeholders in identifying, initiating, and tracking corrective actions to address anomalies
Overseeing monitoring systems and programs used to detect and report security violations
Maintaining familiarity with industry trends and security best practices
Contributing to the teams continuous improvement efforts

To identify weak links in information security products and determine how to mitigate the control deficiencies
To apply mathematical abstraction to create predictive models
Financial services experience
Top 10 banking (Strongly preferred)
Network Security Administration and/or Engineering
IT risk management
Three to five years of related experience
Passionate, positive and driven attitude
Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Reliable time management and organization skills
Demonstrates the ability to convey technical findings in simple language
Proactive mindset and actions
Aptitude to lead complex efforts with minimal supervision
Willingness to collaborate across the organization
Capability to adapt to new and changing environment and handle multiple priorities, including to learn quickly
Experience across the following security concentrations:
o Endpoint – ePO, fundamental knowledge of Windows / UNIX OS configurations
o Network – Firewall, IDS/IPS, Malware Detection, VPN, Remote Access
o Application (Web or otherwise) – Java, .net, objective C, mobile and tablet
Data analysis skills in Excel (VBA preferred)
Experience in creating trending, metrics, and management reports
Demonstrates the ability to independently manage information security control assessments
Strong mathematical ability
Event log correlation tool experience (e.g. Splunk)
Experience with the following security concentrations:
o Application – Web Proxy, Application Proxy
o Network – Wireless, Network Anomaly Detection
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, or Related Fields.
Master’s Degree (preferred)
Vendor specific for Firewall, IDS/IPS, or VPN
