Probity LLC Storage Engineer - Senior in McClean, Virginia

Job Overview The Senior Storage Engineer is an IT specialist who minimizes costs by maximizing computer system storage capacity. Job responsibilities include the design and management of computer system storage for the organization; researching and implementing IT systems that allow for elimination of unnecessary files thus maximizing space; analyzing system performance and modifying parameters to improve throughput and effectively utilize system resources; proactively maintaining the health of the storage environment; troubleshooting system incidents and resolving them in the shortest timeframe possible with the least impact to the system; implementing new and auditing existing backup policies. The candidate will be providing data storage and archiving services in 24x7x365 operational environment. 8 hour day, team must cover 6am to 6pm; with rotating after hours requirements. PLEASE NOTE: This position requires an ACTIVE Clearance Level of TS/SCI with Polygraph . To be considered for this position, you MUST have an ACTIVE Clearance Level of TS/SCI with Polygraph . Education, Certification & Minimum Experience 12 Years of job related experience and a High School/GED diploma 10 Years of job related experience and an Associate degree 8 Years of job related experience and an Bachelor’s Degree 6 Years of job related experience and a Master’s degree 4 Years of job related experience and a Doctorate Certifications desirable in one or more of the following: NetApp storage devices , LAN/WAN components, EMC, Hitachi, Encryption, Firewalls, VPN, backup services, OS/Software/Servers, Solaris, Linux, Red Hat, virtualization technologies, networking, SRS (Remedy), Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Attributes Demonstrated expertise in the design, implementation and support of complex storage infrastructures Strong experience with computer storage and data management tools Strong knowledge of scripting languages Strong experience with databases Working knowledge of current software and hardware Working knowledge of SAN switches Experience with virtualization tools Expert knowledge of operating systems Experience working with Storage protocols Strong understanding of Storage security practices and tools Monitor systems and create SAN health reports as required using the monitoring and management tools such as NetApp Network Operations Manager and Hitachi Command suite Create SAN health reports using NetApp OnCommand Insight (OCI) Strong working knowledge of many of various vendor storage array technologies in SAN including: Brocade, CISCO, Hitachi, IBM, and NetApp Working knowledge of many of various vendor storage management applications such as NetApp NOM and OCI Team player with strong attention to detail Process oriented with strong organization and project management skills Demonstrated experience working with a broad range of issues simultaneously and following them through to completion Ability to identify, prioritize and escalate issues as needed Demonstrated ability to execute and perform timely follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction Ability and willingness to mentor junior team members on current standards and best practices Professional in appearance and work habits
