AMETEK, Inc. Division Vice President, Finance in Mahwah, New Jersey
The Division Vice President (DVP) will be responsible for planning, coordinating and administering the Division’s accounting activities to meet the Corporation’s objectives for accurately and comprehensively gauging its operating performance, including recording and reporting financial progress, and insuring the continuing control and protection of its assets. The DVP will also be responsible for leading the Division’s information technology, data processing, and voice communication activities. This position reports directly to the Vice President/General Manager, Materials Analysis Division. NOTE: Preference will be given to internal candidates, and those with industry experience.
Maintaining effective internal control of all Division operations to ensure continued control and protection of its assets and an accurate reporting of its financial position.
Providing management with monthly, quarterly and annual reviews of the organization’s financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
Preparing reports which summarize and forecast Division business activity and financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
Directing preparation of budgets, reviewing budget proposals, and preparing necessary supporting documentation and justification.
Arranging for audits of company accounts.
Establishing and monitoring Division accounting policies, programs and methods applicable to cost and inventory accounting and ensure that proper standard costs and inventory systems are maintained by plant accounting personnel.
Directing special studies and analysis concerning economic and financial implications of existing and planned Company products and facilities.
Oversight through a qualified staff of Government Cost Accounting requirements in estimating, labor reporting, pricing, costing and allocations.
Assists in the design and development of new or improved accounting practices, which will result in maximum recovery of cost while being in full compliance with FAR and CAS. Present and obtain approval of these activities from corporate and government agencies.
Performs due diligence on possible acquisition, divestiture, and merger opportunities. Develops models, business forecasts and trend analysis to support these opportunities.
Working Capital Management
SOX implementation and compliance.
Management of information technology, data processing, and voice communication to meet the continuously evolving needs of the business.
Oversight of global business unit financial operations.
Minimum of ten years relevant working experience and hold a comparable position today.
Excellent working knowledge of accounting principles and be confident in his/her ability to lead the responsibilities listed above.
In addition, he/she should have experience establishing, integrating and modifying business and accounting systems, as well as managing various aspects of information technology.
The ideal candidate will come from a comparable high mix, low volume, manufacturing company with both electronic and detector manufacturing experience.
Experience with Government Cost Accounting Standards and FAR compliance is a plus.
Experience with international operations, foreign currencies, and acquisitions.
Equally important as the tactical experience, is his/her ability to provide strategic direction. This individual will be the lead confidant to the General Manager and key member of the senior leadership team and as such, they should have strong business acumen and possess proven analytical and strategic thinking skills.
It is expected that this individual will be highly energetic and dynamic. They should also possess good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with AMETEK’s management, colleagues around the world, and subordinates. They should be a proven manager able to assess, mentor and develop good talent. AMETEK is lean and utilizes share-services as well as top-down support from Corporate. This individual must have experience and feel comfortable in such an environment.
This individual must be highly ethical and promote best practices.
Education: The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related major. Masters degree and/or CPA would be a plus.
