This position is a full performance level position in the Accounts Payable area of the UW-Madison Accounting Services section. UW-Madison Accounting Services was granted full pre-audit delegated authority from UWS in 1989 and therefore is ultimately responsible and accountable for proper controls and the accuracy of each transition in a decentralized environment.
This position independently audits invoices requiring a high level of knowledge and expertise and works daily with a wide variety of funding sources. This position is responsible for entering the invoice payment data into the Shared Financial System for vouchering purposes, researching, resolving and responding to payment-related questions by providing advice, interpretation and information on rules and regulations to UW-Madison department staff, Accounting Services staff, Purchasing Services staff, and UWS Pre-Audit staff.
With the supervisor and other Accounting Services and Purchasing Services staff, this position must identify and analyze vendor billing problems affecting the invoice audit process and assist the supervisor in developing procedures that increase the unit's efficiency and service level. This position requires general supervision.

Strong applicants will have experience working in Accounts Payable and experience pre-auditing payment requests and invoices. They will also show solid customer service skills and experience in a professional or financial setting and experience using a financial system such as Peoplesoft. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
Starting hourly rate will be no less than $15.411 for Financial Specialist and $18.024 for Financial Specialist Senior . Starting hourly rate will be based on skills and experience.
