/We have two full-service medical-surgical hospitals. Under general supervision, the Interventional Radiology Technologist will cooperate with the Interventional Radiologist, nurses, anesthesia personnel and all staff members to ensure a safe outcome for the patient.
The IR technologist will perform after hours call including availability to answer questions regarding service.
He/she will operate the technical imaging equipment related to patient care imaging, image processing, image transmission, importing of images and all aspects of the Radiology Information System as required of the IR technologist.
The Interventional Radiology Technologist will perform imaging procedures using standardized protocols, producing the highest quality images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
He/she will assist the Radiologist with IR procedures to include the administration of contrast media, procedure/room set up and assist with biopsies/drainages, procure lab specimens as directed by the Radiologist. The IR technologist is required to know sterile technique and perform as a “scrub tech” for the radiologist.
The IR technologist will be responsible for the maintenance and preventative maintenance of the IR room.
He/she will order and maintain all supplies and be responsible for monitoring expiration dates.
The IR Technologist will assure that charge reconciliation has been performed daily.
Selects and operates equipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, selects proper film size or given exam. Ensures proper identification and collimation, using appropriate markers, develops film as required.
May assist in the use of a variety of equipment or procedure not routinely taught.
Handles equipment in a responsible, professional manner.
Transfers and properly position patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications. Provides immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
Assists physician during special procedures, working with specialized equipment. Assists physicians in performance of examinations by programming injectors, administering opaque media, holding and turning patients, assisting in sterile procedures, performing as a scrub tech, coordinating all procedure’s, makes sure all equipment is maintained
Demonstrates Customer Service principles and behaviors appropriately.
Receives verbal orders for examination from a responsible practitioner in keeping with their state license.
Adheres to prescribed standards for Radiation Safety. Participates in Quality Improvement and Safety Programs.
Performs a variety of clerical tasks to include; importing/retrieving old exams, inputting/editing exams, and completion of requisition prior to setting films to be read.
Takes advantage of opportunities for continuing education as provided by the department or seminars available for the various specialties, cross training in specialized areas.
Ensures appropriate recording of hours worked, adhering to hospital policy.
Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, qualify of care or the services delivered.
Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.
Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.
Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
Regular, punctual and dependable attendance.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
· Associate Degree or equivalent in Radiological Technology required
· ARRT registry required
· State ofFlorida license required
· BLS – AHA Healthcare Provider required
· ACLS – AHA Healthcare Provider required
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:
· Possess skill in 1 or additional areas and be assigned the majority of scheduled hours in that area Required
