POSITION SUMMARY The Registered Nurse (RN) performs the primary function of an RN in assessing, planning, directing, implementing and evaluating the care of patients within the scope of the Registered Nurse. Responsible for meeting the established policies/standards of practice for this facility. Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patients - plans and carries out individualized patient care. Demonstrates daily use of analytical and decision-making skills. Promotes and maintains patient safety standards. Participates in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement. Maintains cultural and diversity awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and all other customers. Promotes a supportive, teamwork-oriented environment. Fulfills responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision, and values of CMC. Assists physicians with the development and implementation of wound treatment plans. Promotes good skin care throughout the organization. Acts within the guidelines of federal and state laws, The Joint Commission standards and professional and ethical practice.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current GA RN license. Basic Healthcare Provider (BLS) Certification required within 90 days of hire or promotion. Position requires recent experience in Wound Care Nursing. Wound Care certification by an acceptable agency is preferred.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the Competency Validation Checklist. Meets mutually agreed upon performance objectives as outlined on the Performance Management Plan.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases. Direct contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Subject to irregular work hours and stress due to multiple phone calls and inquiries from doctors, staff and families. Must be flexible, work at a fast pace and manage several projects at a time. Interdisciplinary contact with other health care disciplines/professionals. Handles emergency or crisis situations professionally, adapting to change as needed. Flexible in meeting the needs of the patients, staff and providers. During low census, may be required to leave early or rotate days off or float to other departments.
