Job Summary :

Reporting to Managing Director in charge of Products & Risk for Leasing & Asset Finance. Responsible for management of compliance, reporting, and similar risk management responsibilities along with the ability to manage a portfolio of lease, tax equity partnership, project finance loan, mezzanine and private equity transactions. Ensure compliance and credit risks are identified and mitigated, and support tasks and reporting are completed accurately and timely. Routinely interfaces and collaborates with other risk and compliance oversight areas in the bank.

Major Responsibilities:

Risk Management:

Accountable for adherence to all regulatory, compliance, and credit policy procedures. Provide leadership to address and resolve any issues that arise, including any related to internal audit or external regulatory reviews. Understand, meet and stay current with all regulatory compliance requirements; be knowledgeable of and adhere to the Bank's Risk Vision, credit and risk management policies and programs; recognize and proactively address compliance risk (including Basel, Bank Secrecy Act, anti-money laundering, fair lending, fiduciary responsibilities, customer privacy, Volcker Rule, etc.). Provide compliance and risk management monitoring for all business lines through certifications, operational checklists, and risk assessments.

Portfolio Management:

Responsible for managing a complex lease/loan/partnership portfolio. Ability to prepare and present credit/investment recommendations, identify and recommend risk rating changes, and prepare annual review packages for credit approval. Track credit quality and monitor risk and ensure accurate and valuation and reporting on the assigned portfolio. Provide special project support to assist Leasing & Asset Finance in its long term financial, regulatory, and risk management initiatives.


Ensure top quality, accurate and consistent data input in all bank systems. Assist as needed in training credit analysts and junior officers. Assist with other projects as requested in support of department/bank objectives. Provide monthly, quarterly, or as necessary reporting to Senior Management for credit, compliance, and risk management of the portfolio. Provide for processes and procedures that ensure timely and accurate reporting of business line initiatives.

  • Requires 5 or more years of corporate underwriting experience, including strong credit and client management skills.

  • Requires a BA, BS (MBA or CFA preferred) and solid understanding of finance/accounting.

  • Ability to present transactions to senior credit officers/committees.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, negotiate and manage complex credit transactions.

  • Experience working with syndicated or multi-bank credit facilities/agency credits.

  • Relevant industry experience (project finance, power, renewable energy, Oil & Gas, transportation) a plus.

  • Ability to work well in teams.

  • Excellent verbal and strong written communication skills.

  • Good PC skills, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience and track record of success at MUFG/Union Bank strongly preferred
