About Us: Volunteers of America of Greater Los Angeles is a large, national not-for-profit organization founded in 1896. We provide a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans' services, homeless shelters, and low-income housing as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Our San Julian Access Center provides immediate needs including beds, showers, laundry, storage, and medical evaluation. We offer job training, job placement, access to phones and the internet, advocacy, referrals, and daily therapy groups. We serve over 300 people daily and shelter over 100 people every night.

Responsibilities: The Monitor:

• Secures the building by periodically walking the facility, providing general oversight to assure the safety and well-being of program participants, and creating reports as necessary • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, participants, visitors and other persons to maintain security; assures participants and other individuals are in compliance with facility policies • Provide crisis intervention as needed • Completes written reports and incidents logs of daily activities and irregularities • Other duties as required

Requirements: • High school diploma or GED • Must be at least 18 years old • Minimum of 1 year in the security field required • Excellent customer service skills

Additional Requirements: • Must be able to pass a drug test • Ability to maintain confidentiality and apply program guidelines • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds • Must be able to work graveyard shift
