Working out of our London, Ontario office and reporting to the Systems Team Lead, the Junior Systems Administrator position will assist with the day to day operation and monitoring of our Windows server systems, deployed across the country. As the main escalation point for Tier 2 support requests, you-ll also be responsible for assisting our service desk with troubleshooting hardware and software issues, as they pertain to our server infrastructure.


  • Deployment of new Windows servers both within our virtual infrastructure, and the occasional physical server at remote sites.

  • Manage end of lease server replacements from end to end, initial setup, planning the cutover, and scheduling maintenance windows to minimize impact to the business.

  • Plan, test, and perform business software installations and upgrades.

  • Monitor and resolve backup failures.

  • Keep current documentation up to date, while creating new documentation for the software/systems you deploy.

  • As a Tier 2 escalation point, provide IT support for in-house and remote users across Canada while recording your troubleshooting efforts in our ticketing system.

  • Respond to alerts and monitors generated by our monitoring software (SCOM).

  • Participate in the design of systems for new business initiatives.

  • Liaise with vendor support to quickly resolve issues.



  • Three year computer technology diplomaand/or

  • Pertinent Microsoft (MCSA, MCSE, MCITP) or VMware (VCA, VCP, VCAP) Certifications.


  • One to Three years Working Experience with:

  • Server hardware configuration

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012

  • Active Directory Administration and Design (GPOs, replication, sites, etc.)

  • VMware ESXi/VSphere

  • Hyper-V

  • Enterprise Backup/Recovery Systems (we use Commvault)

  • Powershell

  • Experience in large scale growth of an organization.

Knowledge. Skills and Abilities

  • Working Knowledge of:

  • MS Exchange 2010/2013

  • MS SQL Server 2008 and 2014

  • MS IIS 7.5 and 8.5

  • Office 365

  • System Centre Configuration Manager

  • System Centre Operations Manager

  • System Centre Orchestrator

  • SharePoint 2007/2013

  • Oracle's JD Edwards Enterprise One

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and ability to build good rapport with other employees.

  • Results driven with strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Proven ability to quickly learn and apply new technical skills and concepts in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to prioritize workloads effectively; while working independently and as part of the team to achieve required goals and objectives.

  • Experience managing projects and demonstrated good judgment when performing tasks.

  • Required to work after-hours during maintenance windows and when emergency support is needed.

  • Positive approach to requests, issues and continuous team process improvement.

  • Willing to travel (approximately 10%).

  • Must be able to safely lift up to 20kg.
