Description Reports directly to the Materials Manager for US packaging operations. Oversees the safe receipt, storage, production, retrieval, and timely dispatch of goods. Ensures workplace health and safety requirements are met and takes responsibility for the security of the building and stock in compliance with SQF regulations. Can maintain department inventory and production goals when Department head is not on active duty.
Motivating, organizing and encouraging teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met.
Supervises Packaging staff, including box production, hi-lo drivers, bailers, temporary staffing, and hand assembly.
Ensures quality, production, building cleanliness and budget objectives are met.
Ensures the health, safety, cleanliness and security of the work environment.
Direct accurate inventories and process necessary Materials order requests.
Collaborate with Department Manager to design and implement efficient material handling and inventory processes.
Ensures product is slotted, inventoried and rotated correctly.
Informs maintenance staff of any and all mechanical problems.
Train and direct the team to meet efficiency goals for case erectors, hi-lo’s, hand assembly and reclaimed packaging.
Develop a basic understanding of Production Bills of Material (i.e. what product is used for what pack)
Manage inventory levels using ERP and WMS systems.
Able to work with all departments to ensure all production, receiving and shipping goals are met.
Training staff and monitoring their performance and progress.
Manage staff payroll and vacation requests.
Responsible for effective and timely communication, verbally and in writing.
Audit Safe Quality Food requirements within the department.
Responsible to train successor for potential absence (vacation, PTO)
Must be able to fulfill the roll of Department Manager during potential absence (vacation, PTO)
Must maintain confidentiality of all proprietary information, as well as other Company data, including personnel information.
Conduct other duties as assigned
Ability to access and fill out all production reports as directed by Packaging Supervisor
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to understand the basics of Packaging machinery.
Must have previous manager/supervisor experience
Ability to communicate with Kingsville and maintain inventories in the event of Dept. Manager absence.
Proficiency in use of English language with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally, verbally and through email.
Valid Michigan driver’s license
Ability to properly manage time, equipment and people.
Proficient in computer-use skills (MS Office: Word, Excel and Visio)
Experienced with WMS and ERP systems.
Willingness to work independently, with minimal supervision and take ownership of job
Willingness to work with a high degree of professionalism and personal integrity
Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills. Need to be creative, adaptable and able to accurately handle out-of-the-ordinary issues with a sense of urgency.
