Lead CT/Radiology Technologist

Work Schedule: Sunday-Thursday from 3pm-11pm, No Call Required

Location: Medical Center of Lewisville

Lead CT/Rad Tech Job Summary:

Associate performs quality diagnostic procedures in an accurate and timely fashion. He/she operates CT and X-ray equipment and processes image as required. Associate prepares CT room, equipment, supplies and medication as indicated for the procedure/exam being performed. He/she practices proper radiation safety techniques on all exams and ensures his/her direct reports and other staff members follow the same precautions. Associate maintains safe environment for patients, co-workers and visitors. Supports and helps achieve the departmental and hospital goals. Provides services to all age groups (infant to geriatric).

Lead CT/Rad Technologist Job Functions:

Associate responsible for delegating workload on the day shifts. He/she coordinates patient flow to and from Imaging Department. Associate shall assists medical staff when necessary. Provide employee’s performance to Director.

Lead CT/Rad Tech Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities.

  • Prepares room, equipment, medicine and materials as needed for patients.

  • Cleans and disinfects CT room and equipment.

  • Observes proper radiation safety techniques on all exams.

  • Prepares Barium preparation and other CT contrast mixtures for the procedures.

  • Prepares patient for CT exam – explains procedures, transfers patient to table, positions patient and assists patient at the end of the procedure.

  • Processes image in accordance with industry standards and techniques.

  • Follows prescribed techniques in administering CT procedure/exam (adjust equipment; determines proper KVP & mA, positions patient, adjust lead shield and selects proper scanning parameters).

  • Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences and records patient’s condition.

  • Maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties, (i.e., proper charge codes, procedures completed.)

  • Inspects and reports equipment/room for any malfunctions within his/her shift.

  • Transports patients as necessary.

  • Takes call as required.

  • Assists with other duties as assigned by the AVP/Director and or Imaging Manager.

  • Performs all CT procedures on patient between the ages of infancy to Geriatric.

  • Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities.

  • Serves as a clinical resource to department staff, students, volunteers and other departments, and contributes to the teamwork essential to ensuring quality patient care

  • Takes appropriate measures to ensure safety of patients.

  • Efficiently operates the PACS.

  • Provides excellent customer service to our patients, visitors, staff and co-workers.

  • Performs Point of Care Testing for Urine HCG and Creatinine. Calculates GFR.

  • Attends staff meetings and in-services.

  • Completes educational activities as assigned.

  • Follows proper procedure for infection control.

  • Assists physician’s offices, outpatients and hospital associates promptly and courteously.

  • Positively identifies the correct patient prior to the performance of CT procedure utilizing 2 patient identifiers.

Lead Technologist Job Functions:

  • Evaluates CT services provided and maintains standards of quality as designated by the American College of Radiology CT Accreditation Program.

  • Leads associates with regard to work assignments, work area and standards of quality care.

  • Mediates individual problems and refers to AVP/Director or Imaging Manager any unresolved problems related to staffing, morale, work ethics, discipline, safety, and other actions involving employees.

  • Notifies service engineer of equipment malfunction in a timely manner.

  • Assists with other duties as assigned by the AVP/Director or Imaging Manager.

  • Ensures that proper Radiation Safety protection is being practiced and exercised according to standard.

  • Must be well trained to handle different ages and risk factors when performing diagnostic procedures.

  • Maintains open line of communication with AVP/Director, Imaging Manager and direct reports.

  • Completes competency assessment and evaluation annually.

  • Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities.

  • Serves as resource for ACR Accreditation.

  • Participates in ACR Accreditation activities and adheres to guidelines and requirements as indicated.

Lead CT/Rad Tech Job Requirements Include: 1. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
1. Must have current license (ARRT) (R)(CT). If associate does not hold advanced certification, associate shall obtain within 6 months of hire/promotion or completion of training program.

2. Must have current Texas license (MRT). 3. BLS (AHA) Certified.
  1. Education

    1. Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology Program or equivalent with appropriate state licensure and National Registry(s).
  2. Experience

    1. Previous experience and demonstrated ability to use computer.

    2. Keyboarding skills.

    3. Must be well trained to handle different ages and risk factors when performing diagnostic procedures.

    4. Minimum 2 years CT experience.

    5. Previous supervisory/management skills preferred.

  3. Specific Requirements:

    1. Must be able to take call restricted to a 30-minute response time and work on Hospital/ER recognized Holiday.

    2. Ability to communicate effectively.
